Christians and Spiritual leaders as well as Non-Governmental Organizations in Anambra state converged Sunday 27th June 2021, at the Light of Path Ministry in Iyiowa Odekpe, Ogbaru LGA under the auspices of Crown Patriots Chaplaincy CPAC to pray for the world. The event tagged ‘’World Peace Summit’’ and the first of its kind in South Eastern Nigeria recognize the importance of prayers to God for World Peace in the face of social, economic and political threats leading to break down of law and order and most painfully, terrorism which has become the order of the day in the society, regardless of geographical location. The Chaplain General of CPAC, John Rich Ndubuisi Ubah in his remark said the organization chose to organize the summit because the act of praying is the oldest and greatest survival tactics given by God.
According to the Chaplain General "The world prayer summit is an event put together to bring people to cry to God the creator for the peace of the world which is fast becoming elusive in today's seven continents of the world.
The Chaplain speaking further opined that Nigeria and Africa as a case study are the worse off saying that the ministry wants to use Nigeria as a point of contact to reach other parts of the world adding that the expectations are that at the end, the seven continents of the earth will enjoy peace and tranquility"
In a key note address, Pastor Of Unifaith Living Church Ogidi, Anamabra state, Senior Pastor Norman Okeorimili reiterated that the need to pray is now, as there is not a single day that goes by without being confronted with disheartening news of violence, crime, terror, war and disasters. Pastor Norman stated that no generation has had experience of so much bad news and constant fear and tension as this, saying that it should make any sensitive and compassionate person to question the progress of our modern world.
According to him, "no one can deny the unprecedented benefits of science and technology, but our basic human problems still remain fear, tension and suffering. Hence it is only logical to strike a balance between material developments on the one hand and the development of spiritual and human values on the other, in order to bring about the peace to revive humanitarian values as Children of God"
The cleric further described the event as apt and timely and one that would impact positive spiral effects in the world while enjoining individual to speak out against injustice which is the major driver of absence of peace being experienced today.
The inaugural summit featured prayer sessions for Peace in Africa, Europe, Antarctica, North America South America, Asia and Australia. Notable clerics in attendance include Pastor Isaac Magnus, Rev Doctor Uche Nwachukwu, Apostle O.C Chukwuma, Pastor Azubuike Nsofor among others.
