17 Persons including 8 Male, 5 Female adults and 4 children escaped death by the whiskers in a ghastly road accident which occurred 7th September, 2021 at Nawfia, along Awka - Enugu expressway. 

The incident which occurred at about 4.30pm, involved a Toyota Hiace bus with Registration number, EPE 948 YD and a Sienna Space wagon car with Registration number BKL 361 ZJ. 

An eye witness, recounted that the driver of the Toyota Hiace bus was driving against the traffic when he lost control and ran into the oncoming Sienna car. The two vehicles were completely damaged, with remnants of their body parts littering all over the road. 

Reacting to the incident, the Sector Commander, federal Roadsafety Corps Anambra State, Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi advised motorists and other road users to desist from route violations and other forms of dangerous driving specially during the ember months, so as to reduce casualties on the highways; according to him, "road users are enjoined to obey traffic rules and regulations always, for their own safety, so as to stay alive during and after the ember months"

According to a release by the Sector, seven persons including 2 male, 5 female adults reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries in the ill fated accident; they were quickly rushed to a nearby hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.
