Kpakpando Foundation, a non-Governmental Organization known for its untiring efforts in assisting members of the People Living with Disabilities PWDs, has concluded arrangements to hold its 16th year anniversary celebration in Abuja.
The event which is billed to hold at the Conference Hall, NICON Luxury Hotels & Suites, Abuja is expected to attract members of the Physically Challenged community across the 36 States of the federation including the federal capital territory, Abuja, who are expected to benefit from financial and material empowerment, including scholarships and free medical services, Cataract Surgery and tuberculosis treatment.
In a statement by the founder and Chairman board of trustees of the Foundation, Senator Osita Izunaso Esq, this year's event apart from its regular annual financial and material empowerment to members of the Physically Challenged, is expected to focus on Advocacy, with the Theme: 5% Employment inclusion of Persons Living with Dissabilities in Nigeria, Time to walk the Talk.
Senator Izunaso further stated that physically challenged athletes who made Nigeria proud in the just concluded Paralympic games TOKYO 2020 will be specially honoured at the epoch making event.
Speaking to Newsmen, the chairman Media and Publicity sub-committee of the event Chf Kehinde Olaseibikan revealed that the auspicious event will host prominent dignitaries across the country from various strata of the society, including the Chairman of the Occasion, His Excellency, Gov. Kayode Fayemi, Executive Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman, Nigeria Governors' Forum. Special Guests of Honour include Hon. Sadiya Umar Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian affairs, Sen. Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Productivity, Otumba Adeniyi Adebayo, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Hon. Sunday Dare, Minister, Youth and Sports Development, Comrade Chris Isiguzo, NUJ National President, among other dignataries, while the Guest Speaker is expected to be President, Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Ayuba Wabba.
Media houses across the federation shall cover the event, which shall also be streamed live by Special team of Social Media Professionals.
According to the Executive Director of the Foundation, Mrs Pat John-Oseh, all arrangements are in top gear for a colourful and successful hosting of the 16th edition of the anniversary, including Security, Medicals, Welfare, Transport and other logistics. Mrs Pat stated that Abuja will be playing host to one of the largest gatherings of special persons, that is, members of the Physically Challenged Community come Saturday 30th October, 2021, saying, she expects a wonderful outing with the arrangements in place so far.
Chief Fidel Eziuloh, Vice Chairman Media sub-Committee and also incharge of special Publicity items concurred that, all is set for a successful and a memorable outing of Kpakpando event, stating that the 2021 edition is expected to be first of its kind in the history of the Foundation.
Contributing, Chief Ford Ozumba, (Eto Dike n'Orsu) the Chairman Local Organising Committee LOC, said he is very excited about the year 2021 edition of the the Celebration, saying that the event is coming shortly after the founder, Senator Osita Izunaso concluded his sojourn to the Law School and subsequently called to Bar; Chief Ford Ozumba prayed God for continuous good health, wisdom and more achievements for Senator Izunaso to enable him do more in his service to humanity especially to the members of the People Living with Dissabilities.
It is worthy to note that Kpakpando Foundation's annual event coincides with the Birthday of it's Founder Sen. Osita Izunaso.
