The Sector Commander, FRSC Anambra State, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi has assured motorists and road users in Anambra State that the Command has put machineries in place to ensure that residents, road users and visitors transiting highways in Anambra State of a hitch-free vehicular movements during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The Sector Commander disclosed this Friday 10th Dec, 2021 during a media parley with Journalists at the Command hall of the FRSC headquarters, Awka.
According to his speech, which reads in parts "As we all know that Anambra State is the gateway to the East of the Country. Also, it is a commercial nerve centre in the region. Road networks and traffic management is very critical to the success of any commerce oriented region. People, goods and services must be moved from one point to another. In addition, the socio-cultural importance attached by the good people of Anambra State in particular to Christmas and New Year celebrations cannot be over emphasized, there is no gain saying therefore that traffic is expected to increase in the state by as high as 30%. The FRSC boss said "The command is fully prepared to tackle emerging traffic challenges during the festive season."
Further more, he said "The command has extended its operational hours to all round the clock especially in urban areas to ensure free flow of traffic at night times," assuring that "Security agencies will be on ground to provide adequate protection for traffic managers during their operations." In addition to assurances by the the Anambra State government for full support to the FRSC in an effort to boost free flow of traffic during the season.
The FRSC Boss therefore appealed motorists and other road users transversing in and around Anambra State to maintain safe speed and obey all traffic rules and regulations; soliciting, for the full cooperation of traffic managers in the State to ensure free flow and safe traffic.
Corps Commander Irelewuyi thanked the media for the unflinching support extended to him and the Command since his assumption of office, saying " Your encouragement and constructive criticisms have helped to put us on our toes with resolve for better service delivery."
In conclusion, Mr Irelewuyi quoted John E Kennedy in one of his sayings, that “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but live by them”
The Corp Commander used the opportunity to wish the Media and road users in Anambra State, a Merry Christmas and New Year celebrations ahead ■END
