... as NSCDC Partners NUJ on Training and Intelligence

The Commandant General of Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, CG Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi has said that the NSCDC shall partner the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ to enhance best practices, Intelligence gathering, Information Sharing and its operations in safeguarding strategic installations and fighting other vices in the country.

The CG Dr. Audi made this known when the leadership of the NUJ led by its National President Comrade Chris Isiguzo paid him a courtesy visit in his Office at the NSCDC National headquarters, Abuja.

Dr Abubakar Audi stated that the unprecedented escalation of Banditry, Kidnapping, Vandals and terrorism activities is not acceptable stating that "Nigeria is the only Country we can call our own and all hands should be on deck to join forces with the NSCDC and other sister agencies to stern the tide of the current security challenges facing the country" he said.

The Commandment General revealed that the ongoing reforms in the NSCDC across the country, shall be sustained so as to match prevailing security situations in the country. Dr Audi said, if criminals and vandals have gone sophisticated in their nerforous activities, then security operatives shall up our games and go after the criminals in their hideouts.

The CG promised that better days await operatives of the Corps that put up exemplary performance at their duty posts, saying that they shall be encouraged with automatic promotions among other gestures, so as to serve as spur to others. 

CG Abubakar Audi said, on assumption of office, all operatives due for promotion were duely promoted, saying that the action is a continuous exercise. He assured that the era of undue delay of promotion of operatives are over.

The CG appealed to Officers and men of the Corps to eschew idlers and rumour peddlers, saying that the Federal government under President Muhammadu Buhari is poised to fight the spate of insecurity bedevilling the nation to a stand still by his disposition to the needs of security agencies in the country.

Dr Abubakar Audi said NSCDC shall continue its internal overhaul to meet International best practices and to domesticate and localize same saying that internal security challenges are local.

The CG diclosed that the newly inaugurated Special Female Operatives of the NSCDC recently repelled a group of Kidnappers who invaded one of the Schools, stating that the action of the Kidnappers would have been a very devastating one to the nation if they had succeeded.

Earlier In his speech, the NUJ National President, Comrade Chris Isiguzo applauded the achievements of the CG in so short a time in office, saying that the setting up of Special Female Sqaud is highly commendable and a step in the right direction.  The NUJ President eulogized the CG for his commitment to partner NUJ in workshops, capacity building including Training and retraining, saying Nigeria will be better for it.

Highlight of the visit was the Presentation of award to an operative of the NSCDC who exhibited exceptional gallantry by single handedly foiling attempt by a group of terrorists to cause mayhem.

The NUJ National President, Chris Isiguzo, National Secretary, Shuaibu Usman Leman, NAWOJ National President Ladi Bala, NUJ Trustee Amos Dunia, NUJ Head of Programs, Tita Onyebuchi Nze and another Union Official Sonny Atumah were among the delegation ■END
