Members of a group known as League of Old Isu Professionals, in their bid to give back to the society have conducted free medical services to members of Isu Community, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
In a statement made available to investigatorsnews, the Ambassador-General of the League Chief Dr. Robert Dikeukwu revealed that the League is a body of Graduate Professionals from Isu area of Imo State, who came together from their various locations all over the world to find ways of contributing their quota to the development of their community on one hand and alleviating the sufferings of the people.
Chief Dikeukwu popularly called Randie explained that, they decided to embark on free health services beacuse of the prevailing health challenges and sufferings of the people. Details of the Free Health Outreach is contained in the report as atteched.
THE LEAGUE AND THE MEDICAL MISSION : A SURE HEALTH TO THE PEOPLE
The League of Old Isu Professionals, an umbrella body of all graduates in Isu Neliligborogu (Old Isu Autonomous Communities) has concluded her 2021 activities amidst cheers and commendations from indigenes of the six component autonomous communities as well as beneficiaries of the League's flagship program, the Medical Mission.
The 2021 edition MM2, the second in the series which held in three centres: Isu High School Isu, St. Anthony's Catholic Church Umuozu and St. Cyril's Catholic Church Umunakara Isu from 27th to 28th December 2021 witnessed an unprecedented attendance.
Declaring the program open, the Ambassador-General of the League Chief Dr. Sir Robert Dikeukwu explained that promotion of good health is part of the noble goals of the League. He thanked the League members and partners of the MM2 for their support and commitment to the health of the people and expressed hope that the intervention will provide health to greater number of sick members of the communities in 2021. He announced the League's resolve to sustain the Medical Mission as an annual event.
The member representing Nwangele - Nkwerre - Isu - Njaba Federal Constituency in the National Assembly and a distinguished member of the League, Rt. Hon. Ugonna Ozuruigbo while addressing the people expressed joy at the initiative of the League and its impact on the health of the sick and the elderly in Isu Neliligborogu and promised increased support for the annual program to ensure more people benefit in the future.
About 175 patients were treated at the eye section, 90 of which required glasses (including special glasses). 320 children were treated by the paediatricians while 1185 adults were attended to by doctors for different ailments. A total of 21 surgeries were also successfully done by the team of surgeons.
According to the Chairman of the Medical Mission 2 Planning Committee, Dr. Anthony Chidiebere Diogu, it is estimated that the 2021 Medical Mission saved the people of Isu Neliligborogu about N30.5m.
While praying for the healing and speedy recovery of all beneficiaries, he expressed gratitude to God for the success of the 2021 Medical Mission and thanked the partners and members of the League for their unalloyed support.
The 2021 Medical Mission was sponsored by the members of The League of Old Isu Professionals in partnership with OZB Communications, Akano Foundation and Ailes Group.
The League wrapped up the year 2021 with her Annual General Meeting and the official launching of her EduAid Trust Fund (for sponsorship of scholarships and educational programs in Isu Neliligborogu)
