A Fatal Road traffic accident has occurred at Nawfia by Awka-Enugu expressway at about 7am Sunday 6th March, 2022 

The crash was between 3 vehicles, with unidentified driver of an ash Ford Transit bus with registration number NZM98EA, an unidentified driver of a yellow tricycle with registration number AAH707UM, and an unidentified driver of a red Mack tuck with registration number, KJA243XK.

20 persons were involved in the crash, compromising 12male and 8 female adults.The number of injured persons include 2male, 1 female while a Tricycle operator lost his life in the incident.

The suspected cause of the crash was attributed to wrongful overtaking. 

According to an eyewitness, the driver of the Ford Transit Bus which was enroute Awka, overtook a Mack truck wrongfully and rammed into the Tricycle in a single carriage way.

Victims of the unfortunate incident were rushed to an undisclosed hospital as at the time of filling this report before the arrival of FRSC rescue team from Awka. 

A statement from the acting Public Education Officer command DRC Margaret Onabe disclosed that the Sector Commander FRSC Anambra State, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi while sympathizing with families of the dead victim, wishes the injured victims quick recovery. 

According to Magaret Onabe, the Sector Commander advised drivers to always watch and ensure the road is clear before overtaking ■END
