"ADAMAWA COUP": ARREST AND PROSECUTE CULPRITS NOW! - Talibaba
A human rights activist, Social Critic and Investigative Journalist Talibaba, real name, Tita Onyebuchi Nze, has berated Nigerian authorities for delay in arresting and prosecuting the CP, Director DSS, Commandant NSCDC and all those involved in the "Coup d'etat" which took place at the INEC collation centre, Yola, during the just concluded Adamawa guber suplimentary elections.
Comrade Tita Nze Talibaba, made the declaration in Abuja during a chat with newsmen, in reaction to the news of Sen. Aishatu Binani's withdrawal of the suit against INEC. The Rights activist Tita Onyebuchi Nze bemoaned the actions of the coup actors, describing it as an aberration, saying it amounts to insult on the sensibilities of Nigerians, for security agencies to boldly come out in the public space and announce that the where-about of the suspended Rec hudu yunusa, who was the chief coup plotter is unkown.
Recall that, the candidates of APC and PDP in the Adamawa guber elections were leading when the election was declared inconclusive. After the suplimemtary elections, collation of results ran late into the night, forcing the INEC officials and all the parties involved to agree for a reconvene by 11am the following day, to finalise the counting process, only for the Rec Hundu yunusa Ari, accompanied by the CP, the Director DSS, the Commandant NSCDC, to suddenly appear at the collation centre around 9am and without observing due process threw cautions to the wind and unilaterally announced APC Candidate, Sen. Binani, as the winner of the election; an action which many see as a flagrant violation of the Nigerian constitution and INEC rules, seen as "civillian coup" against democracy, which triggered several actions and reactions from members of the public.
Comrade Tita Onyebuchi Nze, charged the federal government, particularly leadership of security agencies and authorities concerned to move into action without further delay in arresting the security officers, INEC officials involved in the unbelievable act of incivility, hooliganism and outright abuse of office, including the APC candidate Sen. Binani who went as far as going to the NTA, a national broadcast station to make unscrupulous pronouncement of an acceptance speech; officials of the Broadcast Station who allowed the illegal speech should not be left out of the sanction. Comrade Talibaba argued that if the persons involved are not dealt with decisively according to the provisions of the law, it may serve as a reference point of encouraging similar occurrences in future.
Talibaba described the ugly incident as very unfortunate, saying that, the Adamawa coup actors wanted to replicate actions of a certain former governor from the southeast who few years back, held INEC returning officials hostage and forced the INEC Rec man to declare him a winner under duress, saying that, the declaration was never unturned nor annulled until the governor served out.
Comrade Tita Nze called on the civil society and human rights groups to rise to the occasion and speak up in defense of the country's nascent democracy and the rule of law for the promotion and protection of egalitarian society for all.
On, the issue of May 29, Comrade Tita Nze, Talibaba who said, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will be sworn-in since the constitution does not allow for vacuum, opined that, the judiciary has a lot of work to do to convince Nigerians and international community in their judgements and rulings considering the arrays of election petitions staring them in the face ■ END
