Senators-elect from the Southeast Nigeria, on Sunday 7th May 2023, rose from an emergency meeting in Abuja, the nation's capital, decrying extreme discrimination and marginalization of the zone in the ongoing political permutations and arrangements in the country. 

A communique signed by the Senators from the zone, says in part, that, the people from the Southeast Nigeria are deliberately being schemed out of top ranking political positions in the country.

The Senators in the statement, urged the incoming APC administration led by Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu to consciously address the anomaly and endeavor to find ways of dressing the situation so as to douse the political un-equilibrium and tension currently dangling in the nation.

The Senators said they are unequivocally calling for the zoning of the next Senate President of the 10th National Assembly, to be produced from a candidate of the Southeast extraction, for what they termed, political balancing, equity, fairness and justice to prevail.■END
