In what could be described as a landslide victory, Mr Charles Ahize's appeal against the election of the Distinguished Senator Izunaso was on Thursday November 2, 2023, quashed and dismissed for lack of merit, thereby sustaining the declaration by the INEC that Senator Osita Bonaventure Izunaso was duly elected to represent Imo West Senatorial District at the Red Chambers of the 10th National Assembly.

Mr Charles Ahize of the Labour Party LP, had approached the Court of Appeal, contesting the result of the Imo West Senatorial District election against Senator Osita Izunaso of the APC, who won the elections with a very wide margin as declared by the Nigeria's electoral umpires, the INEC.

The final ruling on the case in favor of Senator Osita Izunaso was given in a unanimous decision by all the 3 justices that presided over the matter at the Court of Appeal.

With the judgement of November 2, 2023, it brings to a logical end, any matter whatsoever in form of any litigation against the Imo West Senatorial District elections which declared Distinguished Senator Osita Izunaso as the winner. 

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the judgement, the Distinguished Senator Osita Izunaso said the judiciary has again lived up to it's bidding as a temple of hope and justice. He dedicated the victory to God and to the good people of Imo West Senatorial District. END
