Chieftains of the All Progressive Congress (APC) have continued to react to the Supreme Court over the judgement upholding the election of Gov. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State.
In their separate statements, the APC Chieftains congratulated the Governor for his resounding victory at the supreme court.
"According to Deputy Chief Whip of the 10th Nigerian Senate and Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial district- Distinguished Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi, he described the Supreme Court’s victory of Governor Nwifuru as affirmation of the general will of Ebonyians".
The Federal lawmaker thanked Ebonyians for their love for Governor Nwifuru as manifested in their overwhelming votes, consistent prayers and unshaken solidarity during and after the elections.
Sen. Peter Nwaebonyi said “ now that the issues of election have been put to rest, I must reiterate my earlier call for the litigants to close ranks and work together with our Governor for the general good of all Ebonyians. They should all surrendered their blueprints to the table in order to harness its potentials in delivering the much-needed dividends of democracy to our people."
" Also, Member, House of Representatives, representing Ikwo/ Ezza-South Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogah (OON) said, the apex court's victory has put to an end to the opposition's doubts and distractions, while calling for unity irrespective of party affiliation to support Gov. Nwifuru’s administration for socio-economic development.
“I therefore, commend the Supreme Court for its courage in upholding justice and reaffirming the saying that “the Judiciary is the last hope of the common man.
“I also congratulate the good people of Ebonyi State and urge our dear Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and his Deputy to continue in their strides to reposition and rebuild the State in line with the People’s Charter of Needs mantra and manifesto of our great Party, APC.”
"On her part, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South East) Barr. Mrs Chioma Nweze in Congratulating the Governor on the Supreme Court rulling, called on all lovers of democracy in Ebonyi State to band together for continuation of good governance and development and advancement of democracy.
"It is my sincere desire also that His Excellency will be magnanimous in victory and make concrete moves towards inclusive governance as may be necessary."
"According to the Chairman of the APC, Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha said the ruling was a demonstration of the fact that the Judiciary was the last hope of the common man.
"He called on the opposition political parties to join hands with the present administration in the State to ensure the peace and unity of the State.
“This has shown that the Judiciary is the last hope of the common man, the Governor is someone who has served the State and his blueprint is the Ebonyi State Charter of Needs.
“The opposition should know that this State belongs to all of us, you can see that the Governor is giving appointments to none card carrying members of the APC. I am appealing to them to know that this State belongs to all of us, will be good for everyone of us if we join hands together."
"Also, the State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Engr. Jude Chikadibia Okpor noted that “the collective wish of Ebonyi people has through this judicial position, prevailed, and will no doubt stand as a reference point in years to come.”
“We are not only satisfied that the judiciary practically demonstrated her impartial status, but impressed to note that they availed the complainants unimpeded access to the justice they sought for, through the processes, which today culminated into clear victory for the generality of Ebonyi people as earlier demonstrated through the ballot box.
“There is therefore no gainsaying the fact that the collective wish of Ebonyi people has through this judicial position prevailed, and will no doubt stand as a reference point in years to come.
“The government of Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru which is anchored on the Divine Mandate and anchored by the Peoples’ Charter of Needs principle has not only shown readiness to accommodate all players towards achieving the noble dreams of Ebonyi founding fathers, but led in the practical disposition to mend possible fences with the aggrieved for the good of all.
“We therefore wish to congratulate our brothers for exhausting all available channels towards ventilating their legitimate interests and urge them to get along in the onerous assignment of taking our dear State to its desired destination.
“The Judiciary has once again through this historic ruling proved to be the last hope of the common man and should therefore be applauded for strengthening our Democracy.”
Concluding, Chief Aja Ogbonna, Chairman, Ivo Local Government Council said "on behalf of my family, my Council and the All Progressives Congress in my LGA, I heartily congratulate the political bulldozer and a trailblazer, His Excellency, Chief Builder Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru on his well-deserved victory at the supreme court in Abuja".
"Your Excellency, your victory is a demonstration of the unwavering and massive support given to you by tne people of the State during the 2023 governorship election. Sir, there is no doubt that your emergence as the Covernor of our dear State has placed the State in the world map through your developmental exploits anchored on the people's Charter of Need mantra. "
"I pray for divine protection and direction upon you as you continue to steer the wheel of leadership of our State." END
