CNS Advocates Intensified AI Integration into Military Operations

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, has advocated that Nigerian Armed Forces should key into the advantages of digital space as presented by Artificial Intelligence (AI) to upgrade efficiencies of military operations .

Vice Admiral Ogalla made the call at a seminar organised by the Nigerian Navy at Defence Headquarters and Services Departments/Branches Transformation, Abuja.

Theme of the seminar which was hinged on “Harnessing Artificial Intelligence as a Transformation Tool in Contemporary Military Operations,” according to the organisers, was aimed at exploring innovative strategies for modern military operations.

The Naval Chief reemphasised the need for the Nigerian Military to embrace Artificial Intelligence as a more efficient way of tackling the multifaceted security challenges confronting the country.

He stressed that the military must embrace cutting-edge technologies like the AI to be able to surmount hitech challenges and achieve operational efficiency, so as to enhance national security adding that new innovations in the technological space require immense commitment, intensive and constant application of the artificial intelligence, in addition to intensive research to be able to meet up with prevailing developments.

Concluding the CDS posited that "the armed forces must prioritise artificial intelligence in order to achieve desired innovations and transformation for enhanced operational readiness and effectiveness. END
