LG Boss Advances Gov. Uzodinma's Health Insurance Initiative to Ikeduru

In a determined effort to drive Imo State closer to achieving Universal Health Coverage, the Chairman of Ikeduru Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Justice Nze, has fully embraced the healthcare agenda of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma. During a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary and CEO of the Imo State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Uchenna Ewelike, on February 5, 2025, he reaffirmed his commitment to expanding healthcare access for the underprivileged in Ikeduru LGA.

Speaking at the meeting, Rt. Hon. Justice Nze emphasized that his administration is prioritizing health insurance enrollment to ensure that all residents—regardless of their financial situation—have access to affordable and high-quality medical care. He highlighted that this initiative aligns with his broader vision of fostering a healthier and more resilient community in Ikeduru.

Commending Dr. Ewelike for the agency’s effective implementation of the health insurance program, the Chairman stressed that providing accessible healthcare is central to breaking the cycle of health-related poverty in the LGA. He underscored that this initiative would not only enhance the well-being of Ikeduru residents but also contribute to a more productive and prosperous society.

Rt. Hon. Justice Nze further expressed his determination to ensure that every household in Ikeduru is financially safeguarded through the health insurance scheme championed by Governor Uzodimma. He reiterated that such an intervention is a crucial step toward sustainable community development, allowing residents to seek medical care without the burden of excessive healthcare costs.

In response, Dr. Ewelike commended the Chairman for his proactive approach to residents' welfare. He reassured Rt. Hon. Justice Nze of the agency’s unwavering commitment to delivering value-driven healthcare solutions while maintaining strong collaborations with local government authorities. Dr. Uche Ewelike  reaffirmed that the Imo State Health Insurance Agency remains dedicated to sustaining healthcare interventions in line with Governor Uzodimma’s vision for Universal Health Coverage across the state.
