LG Chairman, Hon. Justice, Pulls Imo Govt to Gully Sites in Ikeduru

The Executive Chairman, Ikeduru Local Government Area, Rt. Hon Justice Nze, has led officials of the State Government for inspection at the Gully erosion sites devastating the area. This was contained in a media report by the Ikeduru Media Directorate asap:

Another milestone was achieved in Ikeduru Local Government Area as the Executive Chairman of Ikeduru led the Hon Commissioner for Environment on inspection of the gully erosion sites of both Okpuala Amakohia-Owu Amakohia and  Umushievelle Owalla Avuvu.

The Executive Chairman of Ikeduru Local Government Area, Rt Hon Justice Nze, has led the Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Imo State, Hon. Barr. Sir, Ejike Emenike and his team of engineers to the gully erosion sites ravaging the good people of Amakohia and Owalla Avuvu, respectively.


The gully erosion site inspection which was facilitated by the exceptional leadership displayed by the Executive Chairman of Ikeduru LGA, Rt Hon Justice Nze, who pleaded with the listening and Godsent Governor of Imo State,  Dist Sen Hope Uzodinma to come to the rescue of these two communities in Ikeduru. 



It is very clear that the two autonomous communities constitute parts of the Local government with terrible erosion menace and devastating bad roads presently causing havoc in the areas, which has led to the early graves of some heads of families, villagers and leaders, due to heartbreak as a result of the loss of their family houses and shops, that constitute their shelter and main sources of livelihood respectively; the menace has destroyed businesses and rendered some families homeless. 

There was visibly overwhelming joy, excitement and fulfilment as the people sang praises of His Excellency Dist Sen Hope Uzodinma, the Governor of Imo State and the Executive Chairman of Ikeduru for answering their long-awaited prayers.

For the traditional ruler and the people of Owubinubi, and the people of Amakohia at large, the action of the Executive Chairman and the coming of the Honourable Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, and their team of eminent engineers, was a dream come true and a clear testament of the love the Governor has for th3 people of Ikeduru. 

The Councilor of Amakohia Ward  Hon. Stanley Ugo, Traditional ruler of Owubinubi, HRH Ézè Ben-Iyke Nwaneri, Ubi 1 of Owubinubi, the Traditional Prime Minister of Okpuala, Chief Paul welcomed the Executive Chairman, Honourable Commissioner for Environment and other dignitaries with a 7 traditional gun salute. 

HRH, Eze Ben-Iyke Nwaneri applauded the dexterity and capacity of the Executive Chairman for making Amakohia road a priority considering the damages erosion has caused in the area. Eze Nwaneri performed a significant ritual with a traditional drink, calling on the Ancestors and praying to them to guide and protect the Governor of Imo State, Dist Sen Hope Uzodinma (Ọnwa Oyoko), who has remembered Amakohia needs. Also, to the Executive Chairman of Ikeduru LGA, Rt Hon Justice Nze, Honourable Commissioner, Permanent Secretary, and anyone who will assist in facilitating the actualization of this long awaited project.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Ikeduru LGA, Rt Hon. Justice Nze, said "I thank God for a day like this and also thank our Godsent Executive Governor, for remembering Ikeduru at a time like this" Rt Hon Justice, showered encomiums on Governor Uzodinma for his love for Ikeduru LGA and passion and commitment to bringing lasting solutions to erosion menace in Imo State.

The Executive Chairman said, "Our expectations are coming alive, our prayers are beginning to be answered, all thanks to the Almighty God and Governor Hope Uzodinma".

The LG Boss appreciated the Honourable Commissioner for Environment for his undiluted help and assistance in the course of bringing the project to a lime light; passionately appealing to the good people of Amakohia and Owalla Avuvu to continue to support and pray for Governor Hope Odidika Uzodinma, in his unduanting quest to make Imo great again.

Responding to the warm and resounding reception, Hon. Barr. Sir. Ejike Emenike appreciated the people of Amakohia and Owalla Avuvu for the grand reception accorded him, saying that he least  expected the unexpected elaborate ceremony.

He told the mammoth crowd that the Governor of Imo State, Dist Sen Hope Uzodinma knows that he's in Ikeduru LGA today for the inspection. He stated that the reason why he came was that the Governor had directed him to come and inspect the Okpuala/Owu Amakohia and Owalla Avuvu gully erosion sites. Continuing, he said that the repair of the erosion sites have been captured in the 2025 Imo State Budget. He assured the people of these two communities that he was willing to play his role to ensure the realization of these two projects. 

Barr Emenike commended the doggedness of the Executive Chairman of Ikeduru Local Government Area, Rt Hon. Justice Nze, for his doggedness and relentless efforts in driving the dividends of democracy to the grassroots.

The President General of Owalla Avuvu Autonomous Community who doubles as the President General of All Presidens General in Ikeduru, Engr Innocent Nwachukwu, who played host to the team after the inspections, joined the Executive Chairman in conducting the Honourable Commissioner around the ravaging gully erosion site in Umushievelle Owalla Avuvu.  

Prominent among those present at this inspection visit were Major General Augutine Ogunedo rtd., the Ikeduru APC Chairman, Chief Dr Remigus Onyewuchi, former Majority Leader of Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Barr Uche Teddy Oguwuike PhD, Leader of Ikeduru Legislative Council, Hon Amb Samuel Nwokocha, his deputy, Hon Udochukwu Emekalam, all the Councillors, Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture, Hon Chief Magnus Melariri and others.
