AIG ZONE 7 PLEDGES ENHANCED COLLABORATION WITH THE NIGERIA DATA PROTECTION COMMISSION (NDPC)

 ...re-echoes the importance of collaboration in today’s data-driven security landscape

The Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, comprising FCT and Niger state command, AIG Victor Olaiya psc(+) received a delegation on the 17th April 2025,  from the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) during a courtesy visit to the Zone. 

The visit, held as part of ongoing engagements between law enforcement and key regulatory bodies, aimed at strengthening inter-agency collaboration, promoting data protection awareness, and aligning strategies for improved security and compliance within the Zone.

The NDPC delegation, led by senior officials, held fruitful discussions with the AIG and members of the Management Team, focusing on issues of mutual interest such as responsible data handling, digital security frameworks, and the role of law enforcement in supporting national data protection goals.

Speaking during the visit, the AIG reaffirmed the commitment of the Zone to deepen cooperation with the NDPC and other national institutions:

“This visit reinforces the importance of collaboration in today’s data-driven security landscape. We welcome the NDPC’s engagement and look forward to continued partnership that supports our mutual goals of safety, privacy, and national development.”

The visit also presented an opportunity for the NDPC officials to formally invite the AIG to an upcoming national data protection conference, underscoring the Commission’s recognition of the critical role of the Nigeria Police Force in advancing data privacy and digital rights enforcement.

The courtesy visit underscores the shared dedication of the Nigeria Police Force Zone 7 and the NDPC to fostering a secure, privacy‑respecting environment. Both parties affirmed their commitment to ongoing collaboration, knowledge exchange, and joint initiatives that will strengthen data protection enforcement while upholding national security imperatives.
